Bulldogs prepare for Hwy 62 rivalry

MEEKER – It’s rivalry week.

This week Meeker (2-2) will take on Prague (3-0) with bragging rights on the line.

For the second year, Anthony’s Foods sponsors a traveling trophy. The Bulldogs will bring the trophy with them on the short trip east, having won the 2019 contest 37-22.

“It’s a special game and both communities feel a positive impact,” Coach DJ Howell said. “Meeker and Prague kids play each other every season and see each other after games, so there are bragging rights involved.”

Last week, Meeker fell to Kellyville 60-26.

“We used the second half to get a lot of things on film,” Howell said. “We worked on things that will make us a better team down the road.”

The Prague Red Devils bring a 3-0 record to rivalry week. The team beat Luther 27-14 in week one, followed by a 38-0 drubbing of Henryetta and most recently a 46-26 win over Stroud.

Meeker won the 2019 contest 37-22.

In the inaugural Anthony’s The Anthony’s Foods Highway 62 Pigskin War, Caden Wolford rushed for 280 yards on 18 carries and scored once. Zach Cook hauled in three passes for 94 yards and one touchdown.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Prague High School.
