ECU women’s basketball slated to finish fourth in GAC Western Division

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The East Central University women’s basketball team has been picked to finish fourth in the Great American Conference Western Division for the 2020-21 season.

Southeastern Oklahoma State and Southwestern Oklahoma State tied for first, with 23 points and three first place votes each. Southern Nazarene was third (17 points), ECU fourth (13 points), Oklahoma Baptist fifth (8 points) and Northwestern Oklahoma State sixth (6 points).

The Tigers return 11 players from last year’s roster and have added two new faces. ECU finished 10-18 overall and 8-14 in the GAC in 2019-20, after having a year filled with injuries. The Tigers came on strong at the end of the season, winning six of their last eight games.

Senior Kendall Schulte returns to the floor after earning All-GAC Honorable Mention honors a year ago. The Skiatook native averaged 12.7 points and 3.4 rebounds per game, while adding a 43.7% mark from the floor and 37.3% from beyond the arc and netting 29 assists, 13 steals and seven blocks.

The Tigers will open the 2020-21 season, Jan. 7, 2021 at the Kerr Activities Center against Southwestern Oklahoma State at 5:30 p.m. The ECU men’s basketball team will finish off the double-header for the day, with their season opener against the Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m.
