Football playoffs begin Friday

A new season begins Friday.

The OSSAA announced in October that all teams would be eligible to compete in the 2020 playoffs.

For this first time in school history, Bethel will host a playoff football game. The Wildcats (5-3) will host the Comanche Indians (3-6).

Bethel’s season ended with a 27-7 setback against Community Christian.

Looking at the numbers, Bethel is the favorite for the first round matchup.

The Wildcats’ are 3-1 at home this season while the Indians dropped all four road games in 2020.

Bethel scored 267 points through eight games while the defense surrendered 157.

Comanche’s numbers are flipped. Through nine games, the Indians scored 197 points and gave up 279.

In other 2A action:

Meeker (4-4) @ Perry (5-3) – 11/13 7:30 p.m.

In the team’s season finale, Caden Wolford hit the 1,000-yard mark. The senior finished the regular season with a bang going for 251 yards and three touchdowns on 25 carries. Wolford totaled 1,093 yards and 15 touchdowns in eight games for the Bulldogs.

3A Playoffs

McLoud (5-4) @ Plainview (4-6) – 11/13 7:00 p.m.

The Redskins ended the season with back-to-back victories, beating Bridge Creek 44-28 followed by last week’s 44-28 trouncing of Douglass.

Clint Campbell went over the 1,000-yard mark in the season finale. The sophomore tallied 1,067 yards and 15 touchdowns on 150 carries.

4A Playoffs

Tecumseh (4-5) @ Cache (4-5) – 11/13 7:30 p.m.

After two games lost to obvious reasons, Tecumseh returned last week with a 54-14 home loss to Marshall.

Class C Playoffs

Maud (5-5) vs Copan (1-9) -7 p.m.

The Tigers ended the season with three consecutive mercy rule victories. Maud started the streak with a 48-2 win over Bowlegs, followed by a 46-0 triumph over Graham-Dustin and a the season-ending 48-8 win over Wilson-Henryetta last week.
