Great American Conference to conduct voter registration seminar

The Great American Conference announced that University of Arkansas at Monticello professor Dr. John Davis would lead a virtual voting education forum with GAC student-athletes next Monday.

Davis, a Professor of Social & Behavioral Sciences, will present information on voter registration, the absentee ballot process, voting resources and more election issues.

“I’m excited to talk to student athletes in our conference about the importance of voting and beginning a lifelong commitment to civic engagement,” Davis said. “I’m thankful that the GAC and the conference’s coaches recognize the importance of empowering and educating students.”

The GAC will use this opportunity to enlighten student-athletes, and potentially member institution student bodies at large, on the voting process.

“Voter education serves as a pillar of civic engagement,” GAC Commissioner Will Prewitt said. “It is vital for our student-athletes to exercise their democratic rights during this historic time. I’m appreciative of Dr. Davis’ work to create this educational platform on behalf of the GAC.”

An archive of Davis’ session will be available on the GAC’s Facebook and YouTube pages.
