Langston volleyball falls to Wayland Baptist in three sets

LANGSTON – Langston University volleyball dropped the 2021 season opener in three-straight sets to Wayland Baptist Friday evening.

The Lions dropped the first set 25-13. It was a much closer affair in the second set as the teams traded points. Langston held a momentary 21-20 advantage and tied things up at 23-23, before falling 25-23. Wayland Baptist cruised in the third set, winning 25-15

Serena Torres led Langston with six kills. Antonese Tatum, Kierra Wright and Jaden Kindsvater chipped in four kills apiece.

Jada Jolly led the club with 10 digs. Aionna Hall added nine digs.

Langston (0-1) returns to action Saturday afternoon with a home tilt against Panhandle State. The match is set for a 4 p.m. start.
