MAUD – Being the only 8-man squad in the area, the Maud Tigers offer a unique and exciting brand of football.

The Tigers finished the 2019 campaign with a 3-7 record and second-year head coach Kenon White expects an improvement on that mark this season.

One way his team looks to achieve this success will be the team-first mentality embraced throughout the program.

“This year we are all finally pulling our weight in the same direction.,” White said.

The current junior class genuinely impressed coach White with their off-season perpetration and dedication to their craft.

“I can trust they’re going to do the necessary work,” White said. “This group has really bought in and that makes my job easier.”

Quarterback Bryce Bodkin will be an impact player for the Tigers this season. The junior signal caller has the ability to make all the throws and demonstrated that several times in practice.

Dylan Armstrong is another from the crop of juniors expected to make plays all over the field. Armstrong has the necessary speed to be a playmaker in their current scheme.

Jerry Daubert will be one of Bodkin’s main targets this season. He is a 100-percent effort player and will make a play on any ball thrown his direction. Coach White had to remind Daubert they had a game coming up in a few days, and commended his effort and desire to catch the football.

“We have faith that Daubert can go up and get any ball one-on-one,” White said.

Maud’s practices are rigorous for all involved.

“We go as fast as we can,” White stated. “Complete or incomplete, we are moving. There is a ton of conditioning that happens before practice. I believe in doing high-intensity workouts that encourage competition within. We want to win. We want to compete. I feel like that aspect of conditioning helped develop our all-around performance.”

Maud will start the season Aug. 28 on the road at Depew. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
